Support to students and early-stage researchers

In order to strengthen its mission and international recognition, the Portuguese Association for Political Economy (EcPol) provides annual financial support to encourage scientific research on Political Economy and its international dissemination by young researchers. It is an opportunity for the presentation of papers, collaboration and networking in the scientific field of Political Economy.

This line of support is open on a permanent basis, so proposals may be submitted to EcPol at any time, following the guidelines in the attached regulation.

The evaluation of the proposals is done twice a year:

  • by the 20th of July, for applications submitted in the first semester of year, until the 30th of June;

  • by the 20th of January, for applications submitted in the second semester of the preceding year, until the 31st of December.

Master's or PhD students and early-stage researchers (having obtained their doctoral degree less than five years ago) with links to Portuguese education and/or research institutions may apply for support, and may receive up to 750 euros for presentation of an oral communication at an international scientific event not organized by EcPol (in person or online). Master's or PhD students must be enrolled at a Portuguese university in the academic year corresponding to the call for proposals.

Applicants must be or become members of EcPol at the time of submission of the proposal.
